Wendit
The Wendit tourist park, located in Pakis, Malang began operating in March 2008, after the construction of a number of tourist facilites was completed at the cost of 55 billion rupiah.
Rendra Kresna the vice Regent of Malang explains that the Wendit project cost 31 billion rupiah to the end of 2007, 7 billion in 2006 and 24 million in 2007.
“In 2008 we estimate 28 billion will be needed for the Wendit project”, he said.
Facilities that are currently being worked on included a swimming pool, cafes, entrance gates and gardens. Currently a water slide is being constructed, claimed to be the highest in East Java.
In March 2008, with the completion of these facilities, the park will begin full operation. According to the vice Regent after the 24 billion rupiah provided for 2008, the government will not continue to fund the project.
He said without continued support not all of the facilites will be completed.
There are several other facilities which have not yet been built, and will no longer be paid for, such as kayaking, water polo etc.
t is hoped the construction of these facilities will be supported by a new investor. It is hoped the Wendit tourist park will be handled by a local company, currently in formation.
According to the vice Regent, this company will collaborate with other tourist companies in order to ensure professionalism. Also, the skills of experienced consultants will be utilised. Read More..
